AREA15 will host a special performance by Satori & The Band From Space
Thursday, November 10

Musical charity In place of war announces the launch of its 2022-2023 program Around the world in 80 raves series of global fundraising events with a special concert featuring Satori and the Space Band hosted in immersive events and entertainment district AREA15 Las Vegas on Thursday, November 10.

The year-long series of dance music events around the world in 80 raves raising funds for In Place of War will kick off at AREA15 in Las Vegas in November. The 80 Raves campaign, which invites DJs, venues and festivals around the world to collaborate on live events to raise funds for projects that bring communities together in conflict zones through music, debuted l ‘last year.

The first Around The World in 80 Raves campaign in 2021 included 80 DJs who recorded sets around the world in cities including Berlin, Ibiza, Kampala, London, Reykjavik, São Paulo and St. Louis. The performances were broadcast on various media platforms, including EDM Identity, Insomniac, Resident Advisor and Worldwide FM, while audiences were still largely at home during the pandemic. The 2021 lineup included Adam Beyer, A Guy Called Gerald, Bicep, Crazy P Sound System, Ida Engberg, Jax Jones, Osunlade, Sama ‘Abdulhadi, Sasha and Sofi Tukker.

The Around The World in 80 Raves 2022-2023 series will celebrate a return to live events, kicking off with a concert featuring Dutch artists Satori & The Band From Space performing to a crowd at AREA15 Las Vegas, the newest neighborhood in experiential city entertainment featuring live events, immersive activations, monumental art installations, extraordinary design elements, unique retail, bars and restaurants.

Funds raised from ticket sales will support In Place of War’s work in the community of Medellín, Colombia, where a hip-hop MC once told the charity, “We were born to die in Medellín. If it hadn’t been for hip-hop, I’d be dead,” as cartels murdered 40,000 young people across the city over a 20-year period. In Medellín, hip-hop has united parts of the younger community. Today in the city, In Place of War supports these inspiring young people trying to shape their future in the face of adversity.

The charity has been working with a group of social changemakers in the Comuna 13 neighborhood of Medellín for over a decade through its Creative and Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) program. A hip-hop artist who completed the course went on to train other community members to set up a community kitchen during the pandemic. The kitchen continued to operate long after the pandemic, feeding more than 500 families a day.

The charity is also supporting the development of a housing estate to provide sustainable vegetables and fruit to the community of Medllín. The local team is now expanding its work in the Barrio Pablo Escobar neighborhood of Medllín, where it has so far recycled 7,500 kilograms of waste and feeds hundreds of children every day. With funds raised from November’s Satori & the Band from Space performance at AREA15 Las Vegas, In Place of War will train 20 female community leaders from Medellín through the CASE program to help them find creative solutions to overcome violence in the region.

Place of War General Manager Ruth Daniel says, “AREA15 is simply magical and a wonderful blend of experiences and an immersive playground, all rolled into one dynamic space. The venue seemed like the perfect place to celebrate the launch of our next year of Around The World in 80 Raves events. We know Satori will deliver a killer set for the lucky fans who will be there that night, and we hope to engage those music lovers in conflict-affected areas where music truly brings people together.

Fans can look forward to a very special night, as AREA15 Head of Entertainment Noah Kessler explains, “Our audience can expect a unique and immersive night as Satori & The Band From Space create a one night only dance euphoria experience for this highly anticipated show in the portal at AREA15. We are thrilled to partner with In Place of War for this event and support their important work in Colombia by launching with them the new season of Around The World in 80 Raves on November 10.

After bursting onto the scene in 2015 with his album In Between Worlds, Satori has continued to develop an impressive musical repertoire, culminating with the recently released album “Dreamin’ Colours”. An ethereal work rich in colors and textures, harmoniously blending electronic music with Satori’s Balkan heritage. Never limiting himself to being “just a DJ”, Satori has perfected the art of live performance. Often associating his own productions with improvisation by incorporating traditional instruments such as guitar, keyboards or flute. Treating each performance as a blank canvas is what makes Satori’s shows dynamic and eclectic, leaving fans with an eternal taste for more.
