Fans of hip hop dance techniques can learn from one of the best in the area as Barton Student Life and the Barton Dance Department present a masterclass by Kansas City artist SugEasy Singleton in two sessions at 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. h 30 Friday October. 8 at Studio 34 on the Barton campus.
Singleton will teach authentic hip hop dance techniques, which will be followed by a culture question-and-answer session following instructions.
SugEasy describes himself as a practitioner of all the creative elements of Hip Hop – Breaking, DeeJaying, Emceeing, Beat Boxing, and Graffiti Writing. He has over 20 years of teaching. He started teaching at the age of 15, then switched to the studio format in 2001. He acquired these skills from the original pioneers of this culture and he is always on the move to learn more and grow more in order to to constantly become a better artist and teacher. He also toured for 12 years with the group Pomeroy, which opened doors for him to share scenes with Blink 182, LL Cool J, Neyo and many others.
Most of the time, SugEasy invests his time in sharing his authentic knowledge with everyone in the community – of different races, ages, cultures and backgrounds, he said.
Barton students can attend for free. Tickets cost $ 5 for non-students and can be purchased at shows.bartonccc.edu. For more information, contact Barton Dance Coordinator Danika Bielek at [email protected] or 620-792-9253.
