Music, dancing and memories filled the air at a previous seniors dance at Groveport in 2019. In addition to dancing, attendees remembered by leafing through old school yearbooks and looking at historic photos of Groveport, and enjoyed each other’s company, including this group re-performed the choreographed dance moves of The Supremes as the song “Stop in the Name of Love” was played. Groveport Town Hall will host the latest version of the event, called Sweetheart Senior Dance, on February 12 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Grab a friend or your sweetheart, put on your dancing shoe and come to the Senior Sweetheart Dance!

The dance, open to seniors and hosted by the City of Groveport Community Affairs, Senior Center and Senior Transportation, will take place on February 12 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Ballroom on the second floor of Groveport Town Hall. , 648 Main St.

“This Valentine’s Day themed event will feature appetizers, free drinks, a DJ playing classics from the 1930s to 1970s in addition to special requests and everyone in attendance will receive a free buttonhole and ticket.” for our photo booth which they will receive as a keepsake, ”said Kristiauna Trelay, Executive Assistant for Community Affairs at Groveport. “Everyone will be buzzing with joy as the City Hall auditorium transforms into a playful atmosphere with lots of sparkles and pink and red hearts.”

Plus, attendees can travel back in time and remember by browsing the Groveport Madison High School yearbooks and other historical artifacts provided by the Groveport Heritage Museum.

Trelay said events like this are positive experiences for the community.

“It’s important that the community has something positive and exciting to look forward to here in their backyard, especially during these difficult times,” Trelay said. “It’s good for older people to have fun while reconnecting with others in the community, while just enjoying nostalgia for the past. “
